Black’s won a Pawn in a poorly played opening by both sides. White’s just played Ne4, threatening to capture on f6 or d6 the next turn (look a step ahead to see why Black’s Queen isn’t really defending either of the Pawns). Can Black keep his material edge? And if so, is it even worth it?

The Iranian religious leaders are probably looking at this picture and thinking one (or both) of these two things:
1. “An absolute disgrace! Such bad hijab!”
2. “Oooo, yeah! Bad hijab!”
The second Miss Arab World contest was held last month, and was won by Miss Bahrain. It probably goes without saying that there was no swimsuit competition.
More contestant pictures here.

It’s the Amethyst Citadel wallpaper–except in the daytime! I still like the night one better, but it’s not dreadful. The (accidental) openings in the crystal are obvious now; that’s how you sail into it, I guess. The citadel’s material actually required a bit of tweaking to make it look right; it wasn’t quite as simple as flipping on the daylight and adding some clouds. But almost.
