I hate McDonald’s even more now

Hey, people! It’s Everyone’s Favorite Egg (TM), the Mascot here with an important message.

I suppose I should thank Dinosaur Mom for getting me the picture. I’d almost forgotten about this, but it really boils my tuna everytime I see it.

So Donnie and I were cruising around town when we saw this billboard:

Every Egg\'s Dream, per McDonald\'s

It’s bad enough that McDonald’s tortures millions and billions of eggs every year to make their egg barfwiches. But now they’re telling you that eggs WANT to be treated like that???

I came up with my own billboard for McDonald’s to use in their next campaign:

The New Mc Soylent Green Sandwich!

The McSoylentGreen sandwich. Mmmm, looks good to me! Maybe they’ll use the cashiers that are too daft to handle giving customers correct change. That way even the “human rights” campaigners will say it’s no big deal.

The demise of chess blogging?

Maybe part of what I’m seeing is because I’m exposed to such a small fraction of the chess blogosphere. Most of the chess blogs I read are from grizzled veterans, and reading between the lines, here’s the sense I get:

1. We are actually sick of seeing games analyzed on chess blogs, are subconsciously aware of this, and do the analyses more for our own benefit.

To be perfectly honest, I rarely replay over games unless something really caught my eye (then again, I don’t analyze my own games anymore, so there’s that.)

2. We read so many blogs, any posts more than a couple paragraphs are now a burden to read. Including this one. (Possible exception: David K’s blog)

3. The non-chess and tangentially related posts are now more interesting. These also tend to generate more comments.

: I agree with #3. I don’t blog about chess, and my posts generate much more interest and comments than Donnie’s. I guess I’m not boring, like him.

Of course, there are the people on vacation, are changing the blog’s focus, or who just quit chess for various reasons. Maybe it’s just that a lot of blogs are simply past their expiration date*, and the writers have lost interest.

Am I wrong? Is it just me?

In the meantime, while you ponder the above, I’m going to be an attention whore and link to Vicary’s blog for no apparent reason.

*: But don’t worry about me. Unlike most eggs, I don’t have an expiration date.

Monday Fighter!

I’m on the road on business this week, so do not have normal access to the wooden table. (If you argue I could have been foresighted enough to have some Monday Fighter!s ready beforehand…you’d be right.)

So, here’s a tidbit from engrish.com. This statement has probably been in some fortune cookie made at some point in the Earth’s history, so close enough.

Also, congratulations to Ivan on his Lepers II victory! A proper and justified coronation will ensue later this week.

Lepers II final and the final word on the ‘08 election

Congratulations to Polly and Ivan for being the last two players standing in the Lepers II tournament! By virtue of having the better regular season record, Ivan will be White.

To paraphrase Mr. Crabby Old Chess Player: I’ve read twelve minutes of opinions on the US presidential election and had to stop because of reflux.

Liquid Egg Product on vacation

LEP will be on vacation until Sept 8. Definitely in time for Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Lepers Tournament. To Polly, Chessaholic, and Ivan: Polly and Chessaholic will play for the right to face Ivan. Then the winner of that game will be the second Lepers champion, who will get some sort of lame prize.

Sorry about no Monday Fighter! yesterday and not responding to the last 15 or so comments.

I have a lot of work to do.
