Anti-discrimation campaign fail

In an Illinois high school, a white high school coach cut 8 black students from a varsity basketball team. Some blacks in the area are plenty hot, with a couple church leaders calling for a boycott of classes and basketball games. (Although one of the ministers would “ask students to boycott in a rotation so that they don’t miss consecutive days and fall behind in their classes”, so kudos to him.)

The response by the school’s principal, however, was most telling: “But I don’t understand the racial (accusations). The entire team is African-American.”

I do have a feeling there’s more to the story than the article tells us. People can’t be this daft, right?

Has Mr. E been on the receiving end of racism?

Mr. E, if you’re not black or colored, please forgive my assumption.

This is just like that time you were at the airport and the black guy accused the black airline rep of racism.

the mention of how the boys wore their hair is kinda telling. maybe that made some of the boys “blacker” than others, if that makes any sense. Instinct to judge based on appearance will mostly trump the will to give people a chance. That’s just human nature. :(

it goes both ways. at work, they had me unloading tractor trailer trucks with eight persons who all looked alike. all age 18-23, intercity… and there i was, age fifty, white, older, and self discriminated against. no women were there, no other older employees, not a man over age 30!

Well the blog is officially over, it was a lot of fun thanks in large part to yourself, so thanks again:-D. On this post: I couldn’t figure out your position, so do you think their was racism involved? I look at it and think: Well if the whole team was black and only some got taken off the team, that seems more of a prejudice against those individuals than against skin color. But I bet I’m missing something.

@Q: From what I understand, eggs had their own “civil rights movement” a few hundred years ago, so they are ahead of humans on that count.

@Annie: LOL; I completely forgot about that airline incident.

So it’s just the “street cred” guys who got the boot? Maybe that explains it.

@David: Did you at least speak the same language?

@tanc: “One egg short of a full carton” is the preferred lingo here.

@l3rucewayne: We all get to be stupid 5% of the time. Anything above that is a problem.

@Mr. E: Don’t be too hard on the guy. He was just trying to be understanding.
