Wade isn’t himself… at the Celtics game, I was surprised. Wade missed at least 4 re throws.. while Shaq actually made at least half of them.. what is this world coming to?

@wang: I didn’t watch much sports in the 80′s, and even if I had, it wouldn’t have been with much perception. Being that my age could be counted on 2 hands at the time.

However, I’ve seen a handful of old games. IMO, it’s the other way around: the great players of the 80′s would be only fair to good today, if for nothing but the better nutrition, training, etc. today.

@Wahrheit: That’s the first thing I thought when reading wang’s wife was a Sonics fan. It seems he could always lord the Sonics-Nuggets playoff series X0 years ago. Being a Rockets fan, I was almost as ecstatic as Mutombo cluching the ball on the court. (Rockets-Sonics were actually rivals back then…)

@Allen: At least the Heat were never down by 50.

Even with Wade, the Heat are mediocre. It’s a shame, really. It’s about time for Shaq to start his law-enforcement career in earnest.

The Dolan family are the biggest bunch of azzwipes to walk the planet, and what they have done to that franchise is a crime. Also it just pisses the hell out me when professional athletes and coaches can do shit that would get us ordinary folk fired. Would we still have a job if we assaulted our boss the way Sprewell choked Carlissimo when he was with the Warriors? Would we still have our high level management job if we had been found guily of sexual harrassment like Isaiah Thomas?

Then let’s talk about Thomas’ brilliant record as coach, and GM. Geez, I think I could make better deals, and coaching decisions. Okay, end of rant.

Wang–if you’re wife is a Sonics fan she doesn’t exactly have a big edge in the NBA rooting race at this point…

It’s weird how much I used to love NBA basketball when I was a kid, and how unwatchable most of it seems now. It’s hilarious that in the last few years the records for the lowest scoring quarter, half and game that were set back in the early 1950s are being challenged. They turned it from a sport into a “product” and the product is diluted.

Ah yes, my beloved Knicks…
I saw the score last night during the evening news, and my wife starts in with the Knick jokes. She is a Sonics fan and never hesitates to give me crap about my NY Sports teams. I don’t know how much worse it has to get in NY. They treat the “R” (rebuilding) word like it’s the worst thing you can possibly say but it is obvious to the casual observer that this is a supremely lousy team. WAAAY over the salary cap, lousy players and a clueless chauvinistic GM/Coach. Hall a fame player, hall of shame executive.
