As many times as you’ve heard not to waste food because of starving children in Ethiopia, sometimes you just gotta get rid of it. Based on personal experience, here are some foods and a good sign you should throw them out.
Fig Newtons/Fig Newmans: they’ve become crunchy
Burrito: tortilla “decorated” with blue polka dots
Milk: has changed state of matter
Ramen topped with eggs: ramen topped with fungus
(Yes, this post is bizarre and pointless. My mind’s still not working very well right now.)

I’m so excited! A non-regular visitor has responded very intriguingly to Liquid Egg Product, and I am trying to determine the best way to mock her. In the meantime, 160 new work e-mails deserve my immediate attention.

Vacation has been successfully completed with a few unintentional side effects, such as being sick half the time. (Being afflicted with an illness is not a good way to restart work.)
Look forward to a more regular posting schedule that will enable you to slack off at work for a period of 2 to 30 minutes, depending on how large and compelling the material is.

Shortly, I leave on vacation.
Unfortunately, those of you who use this site as a diversion from work will find the site very sparsely updated until I get back on the 27th.

According to an MSN-Zogby poll (does that mean Zogby did the poll, and Microsoft paid to attach their name to it?), a lot of us do non-work on company time. There are two of you that came to mind immediately, but your names won’t be mentioned here.
They list several activities more common than you’d think, including watching TV. Although they didn’t mention “blogging during work hours even though one co-worker’s sick and the other doesn’t work Mondays, meaning you have to pick up the slack”.

It’s funny to hear an argument being used by both sides on a debate. In this case, it’s about organic foods, which don’t use pesticides.
Both the organic industry and organic skeptics have used the argument that there have been no long-term studies on the health effects of ingesting small amounts of pesticides over a long period of time.
Some organic skeptics argue that since it’s not proven the pesticide levels in food are harmful, we shouldn’t worry about it. But if there have been zero studies on the subject, isn’t that all the more reason to be hesitant?

Our department has been searching for another employee for the last several months. It hasn’t gone well (obviously, we’re still looking), and the one really impressive candidate took another job. We got another resume from HR today, and I was asked to evaluate it:
“I’d be tempted to bring him in just because he spelled everything right on his resume.”
That says it all…

I forgot this week’s installation of “Monday Fighter!”. And it simply won’t do to have it on a Thursday. It will be back next Monday.
But if you’re feeling nostalgic, here are the previous Monday Fighter!’s. Or should that be “Monday Fighters!”? Any help from English majors and punctuation freaks most appreciated.

Now that I’ve got a traffic ticket, I’m getting swarmed by adverts for Attorneys at Law. At least none of them say “se hablo español”.
Don’t try to get any of the following vanity plates:
DUI MAN
SEX4CSH
OJDIDIT
Annie must be back at work because she left a ton of comments.
I have a very special announcement* to make this coming week. I can’t really give details right now, but it’s a rather ambitious project that will undoubtedly never get finished.

It’s official: the Guinness Book of World Records has listed Manuel Uribe as the world’s fattest human. He peaked at over 1,200 lbs (560 kg).
“I’m glad to be in the Guinness Book as the fattest man,” Uribe said, and was even given a glass plaque to recognize the “accomplishment”.
