Although many comments are from other chess bloggers, I’d estimate 2/3 of visitors are from non-chess sources. “Nick” was almost certainly a non-chess blogger guy.

There is technically no language policy, except for the Mascot. There’s been so little cussing (and it’s not like this is a kids’ site) that I hadn’t even considered it.

I’d prefer no cussing, but there’s been no mass protest so I obviously don’t care enough. (Even some guy’s sketchy chicken comments are still around.)

Yeah… how about that Amerigo Vespuci or Leaf Ericson too? Pillaging and Plundering… throughout history. I’m glad chess came along. I do my pillaging on 64 squares to stay in touch with my inner colonizing, ethnic cleansing, brutal, profiteering war-monger.

I didn’t even KNOW today was “a day” until I started calling mortgage companies and got voicemail about “the holiday”. What kind of bullshit holiday is Columbus day? Omg. Let’s have “I’m wearing red” day, and take a four hour lunch.

It isn’t ‘celebrated’ in my daughter’s montessori school. I think they get a more balanced view of history nowadays.
