I have returned!

FICS

Finally, I’m back on FICS, so there’s actually a chance you’ll see me around (handle LiquidEggProduct). So far, 9-7, with a 1697 prov rating. I think I’ve played maybe 2 good games; the rest being awful performances, or the opponent was too weak to give a decent fight.

Dang, your that good huh? In that case I issue my excuse before my probably eventual thrashing: I have not studied or played seriously in months, oh oh, and I’m not feeling well, I think I have a coma. Cough cough…

Wow. You did a good job of making a coma sound over the Internet.

Keep in mind my rating is provincial, so I may or may not be “that good”.

That screen shot reminds me of space invaders on the atari, ca. 1987.

Wow–whne my Mac got stolen and I replaced it with a Windows machine I downloaded the Babaschess thing and it kind of freaked me out, couldn’t get it to work exactly the way I wanted it to…but if I can spend some time and make it look this cool and rad I may have to go back to it!

I’m in the 1700-1800 range on FICS standard, so we could probably have some good games.

That would be sweet! I know some of the other bloggers are on ICC, but that actually costs money…

Too bad about your comp…it sounds like a Windows machine wasn’t your first choice. Look on the bright side–greater software availability!

Did you download the graphics pack for BabasChess? I think that’s where the space background was from. I changed the default pieces and board (the piece font is one of the vector type so I could tweak the colors to my liking; I forget which one it is).

I decided to use the boring default on babas. The space thing was a bit much. I have enough trouble with seeing the board without funky pieces. I’ve played 5 games so far on FICS and hung my queen 3 times. LMAO. I suck!

I was just too lazy and useless to work with babas until I got it right so I’ve been playing with the default Java board. I am so lame…anyway, sounds like we should try to set up some little Polly-Donnie-Robert round robin for fun. Being in different time zones could complicate but how about a Sunday eve. or something?

Is robert chessaholic? I was thinking the other day of an inter-blog championship where the moves were made like 1 a day or something as edited or new posts or comments, but your idea would be probably work out easier. Count me in if one gets started. I’m in the 1600-1700 range myself so I can at least put up a fight.

@Polly: “Women are weakies. I can give Knight odds to any woman in the world.”

@Wahrheit: The Java board sucks; it’s worth the effort to set up Babas how you like it. Unfortunately, I’m stuck on a 1200×800 for this laptop, so some tweaks are limited.

The round robin is a cool idea, and throw l3rucewayne in there, if he’s not recovered from his coma.

@l3rucewayne: Robert is Wahrheit. I like the idea of the inter-blog play; in fact it’s motivated me to try an idea I wanted to implement but just haven’t had the programming time.

OK, I’m going to have to figure out how to create a friends or watch list or something.
