Liquid Egg Product on the Face Award

It’s close to the end of 2007, and it’s time for the First Annual Liquid Egg Product on the Face Award! (For you non-Americans, we have an expression to “have egg on one’s face” which means that person’s done or said something foolishly embarrassing.)

The award honors the person who managed to be the most entertainingly stupid. And you, dear reader, get a hand in determining the winner!

We’re looking for your candidates! Leave in the comments, and we’ll probably keep a total of 6 or 7 to vote on. Suggestions must be in by Tuesday, Dec 11, and voting starts Wednesday, Dec 12 (it’ll be open for several days to give people time).

CLARIFICATION: Do not vote on one of these four guys now! What I’m looking for is a few more worthy candidates. Then we will vote next week.

Here are a few suggestions from the Mascot and I:

Jonathan Ogden: Albeit a professional athlete doing a TV commercial is shooting fish in a barrel. (video)
Ogden flexes for Gebco

Judge Roy L. Pearson: The $67 million pants guy. If you’ve been living in a hole, you can re-live the saga here, here, and here.

Christopher Emmeroy: This bank robber waited for the teller to fill out paperwork during his heist. Nothing else went right for him, either. (story)

Scot Pollard: Told kids to use drugs on national TV. (video)
Scot Pollard

[Mascot: Actually, I was wondering why you aren't on the list.]
[Donnie: You know that employees, owners, and shareholders of liquideggproduct.com are not eligible for the award, right?]
[Mascot: Darn! Do I at least get a vote?]
[Donnie: Yes, we both get a vote.]
[Mascot: Yay!]

Even though that Jonathan Ogden guy looks silly doing that commefcial, i wouldn’t mind being amidst a couple of those hotties.

a $67 million (or $54 million) lawsuit over a pair of friggin’ pants??? Only in America.

    That Scot Pollard guy? Mwoa…

I vote for the bank robber.

The fried rice turned out the best of all the fried rice I have tried to make in the past, but due to my deciding to risk it and use to only available soy sauce (low sodium) I probably made it taste not as good as it could have. also since the rice had been in the fridge a while, is wasn’t as “loose” as I figured. All in all it was good stuff (thank you!!) though and I look forward to trying it again with the correct soy sauce and really fresh steamed rice (and maybe even the garlic and the other suggestion you gave, some kind of oil[sesame?] if I recall, it’s in the document in any case.).

I have some questions annie about the recipe, I feel certain you meant a teaspoon of soy sauce per cup of rice and not a tablespoon correct? because the first table spoon gave it plenty of color for 3 cups of rice(estimated). Also when you say cups is that before or after you break up the rice(i’m guessing before.) or does it even make a difference? And lastly would you be okay if I posted your instructions in my blog at some point?

How was that for a random and out of place comment :-) .

@Edwin: That’s right, I forgot he dropped the suit amount to $54 million. See, we Americans can be reasonable!

I’m sure Ogden didn’t mind being surrounded by those dancers.

Engrish is always welcome at Liquid Egg Product!

@l3rucewayne: Pollard was trying to be funny (he has a reputation for being a joker). And he was funny, just not in the way he expected.

Random and out of place comments are always welcome at Liquid Egg Product!

btw, fried rice using old rice doesn’t make a big difference… in fact, normally people will fry their rice since it beats eating old rice.

l3ruce, use the paper towel steam thingy I told you about! Before you fry the rice, if it’s dry from being fridged, steam it. It’ll soften the rice and make it easier to work with. The chunkiness is fine, but if the rice is too dry, it won’t fry right.

You’re right…a teaspoon of soy sauce is plenty. I don’t measure; I just drizzle straight from the bottle. I do use low sodium soy sauce and it works fine – but yeah, pick a brand that has maybe lighter coloring. Three cups BEFORE you break up the rice, yes, but it doesn’t make a diff, really – just use as much rice as you want to make.

I am *so* glad this worked for you!! and I would be honored if you posted the stuff on your blog. Distribute as you please, as this recipe now belongs to you :)

    @Kate and Chessaholic: perfect submissions!

@Allen: Technically…….no. BUT if we ever get some, they won’t be eligible for such an award.

thx annie for the answers and permission:-) i did indeed use the steam trick on the older 3rd of the rice i used, and it worked surprisingly well I think. next time I’ll do the whole batch if it is not fresh. I now have another few bits of useful data for the rest of my life, so thank you very much:-).

liquid egg product: first improving sub sandwich restaurants, and now helping (through it’s volunteer commenter network) the world learn to cook Chinese food. how next will this site improve our world of food:-D.
