Obscure presidential candidate of the week

Steve Kubby (Libertarian)

The Joker has decided to reform and is now running for president.

Steve Kubby for president

He’ll never get the endorsement of l3rucewayne. However, he gives his own State of the Union address on YouTube wearing some hokey tie. (website)

(I’ll get back to blog-reading and responding to your comments soon. This post was published a week ago, thanks to the wonders of “Edit Timestamp”.)

  1. 306 more days…

So, with pandora.com rambling in the background, I had Steve Miller’s “Swingtown” overlayed in the background with Kubby’s little speech. Something about the “Come on and Dance” chorus while he was giving his state of the union wearing a tie that would entice an epileptic reaction… made it all the more palatable.

  2. So are you still as confident as before about Obama becoming president what with his pastor trouble and drop in the polls? I still suspect he may get it, but for now I breath a little easier.

  3. What this means is that PA is not a done deal and the Hillary vs Obama battle may go to the convention ( sigh).

I think the media plays too much of a role in swinging the poles by sensationalizing a story like Pastor of Obama. The main stream media driven by rating$ have to make it a “story” and put the speculative ” Will this help Hilary?” It seems like this whole politcal season has always been a WWHD ( what would Hilary do?) She was the designated front runner from the start and Obama has climbed quite considerably despite the MSM’s slant to Hilary.

Obama’s speech on Tuesday demonstrated that he can rise above this propaganda and clearly think for himself. A man’s pastor does not define the man.

  4. I also feel the media probably plays too big a roll. My impression was that for a while at least their was pro Obama slant, since people believed he stood a better chance in the general election. A lot of people felt his speech was good, so I’m glad it hasn’t caused his numbers to go up, instead they seem to have gone down a bit further. I agree a pastor doesn’t define a man, but if he went to a church for 20 years (he recently said 15 years, but I hear that it is actually 20) that teaches some pretty outrageous stuff then it at least raises some questions about him. He claims the comments aired were not typical, but I find that hard to believe.

  5. At the very least, people can’t be blamed for asking why Obama would go to a church led by someone who has those particular views.

The controversial comments aren’t about a Baptist vs. Presbyterian interpretation of scriptures; it’s much more personal for people.

And I still think Obama will win.
