Obvious ripoffs

So there’s that quasi-famous Three Wolf Moon T-shirt. People have made obvious ripoffs that aren’t very funny, not realizing the phenomenon’s popularity had little to do with the actual shirt.

Like this one, Three Egg Moon.

Or, more the more chess-inclined, a Three Knight Moon design. Endgame Clothing could totally run with this:

I don’t feel my rating going up with either of these…unlike my personal experience with the three wolf moon shirt. Not only has my rating shown a difference but I last longer. Ok, that didn’t come out right.

My 81 year old father in law has a great sense of humor. We sent him an authentic 3 wolf moon shirt for real complete with the lore. At this summer’s family gathering at the beach, he proudly wore it and all the youngun’s were impressed. He even made claims that it grew his hair back ( or back hair.. or something).

So, how come I don’t see either of these at Cafepress.com?

As soon as I wore the Three Knight Moon shirt I was immediately possessed by the spirit of a Grandmaster. I proceeded to play a a 20 man simul while blindfolded and won all matches. The most amazing part of this shirt though is that it is an excellent fit.

I was always an excellent chessplayer, that could never manage to win the World Championship. But in 1999, I got a mysterious package. It contained the Three Knight Moon T-Shirt…10 years before the shirt even existed.

I wore it to all tournaments under my other clothes so no one knew my secret. The following year, I was able to defeat Kasparov to win the world championship. Unfortunately, I lost the shirt in 2007 and promptly lost the title.

@Blunderprone: These shirts aren’t sold. The shirts wander the earth, choosing their wearers.

LOL at the father-in-law story. Awesome that he was aware of the mysticism of the shirt at all.

@Allen: Of course, the fact that’s a good fit is vital. You can’t play grandmaster chess wearing uncomfortable clothes.

That’s quite impressive! Maybe wearing 3 knights shirt would make my rating rise 5 points.

The 3 knight shirt is so awesome. I bought one and wore it to a tournament. I used Fritz under my shirt and won 1 out of 7 games in my usual U1200 section. My rating peaked at 1201 before I lost the shirt and it fell back to my normal 526 USCF.

@Polly: Guaranteed to get you off the rating floor!

@Knight De La Maza: While I don’t have the same disrespect for the Circles, well played.

I gotta figure out who you are one of these days.
